Last Tuesday, we went to the LLI to improve our oral communication skills by talking with the senior students through our presentations. It’s a unique class that I let me get more familiar with the present retired people, interesting transnational marriage, and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our group included two ELP students, Roaa and Daniah, one LLI student, Tokio, and me. We were so lucky to have a partner like Tokio, a Japanese who has an American wife. From the beginning to the end of the conversation, he was so modest and cooperative that we didn’t have any sense of nervous. But at the same time, we have so much topic to discuss that I didn’t even finish my presentation. At first, Daniah and I visited LLI’s Art classes, it’s really different from my eristic view, the retired people there fell in love with their lives after their retirements though nearly everyone were all have a distinguished experience when they were young. Then, we went back with Roaa and Daniah, we began with our self-introductions. And then we moved to our presentations.
From the self-introductions, we could always easily to find new topic to talk about and we were all curious about each others and didn’t hesitate to ask questions. It was obvious that Tokio and I were eager to know more about Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a mysterious country. So we start with Roaa’s presentation. Roaa’s performance was so interesting that we all held our breath and were staring at her. I noticed that Tokio paid more attention to the religious part. Because he kept asking more than five questions one by one after Roaa introduced their special religious traditions. In the process, I knew that Japan and China have many common in religions. Buddha was the most widespread believe in our country. And because of his wife, he comprehend American religious. And after I read the articles in the American Ways, I verified his version. Like the other retired people, Tokio spent a firm part of his daily time on reading news papers, because I observed that he grasped many things even he didn’t get to KSA and China before. And he came to understand the present news.
Unfortunately, I didn’t finish my presentation because I was the last performer of our group and we kept talking all the time and didn’t manage the time well. But on the other hand, Roaa and Daniah were all from KSA, so we have a overview to the amazing country, which we didn’t know before. And I found it was particularly significant to discuss the topic between the students, which were from a same country.
